Synchronicity
by Nicki Ali
Whether you call them miracles, magic, synchronicities or coincidences, many of us experience those moments that catch our attention because they seem to connect us to something beyond us. Maybe you’ve had a moment or two like this that you can recall, maybe you experience these moments every day. I have had the privilege of experiencing synchronicities in both grand, astounding ways as well as small, barely noticeable ways throughout my entire life.
And that brings me to the word I want to highlight - noticing. I believe that synchronicities happen way more often than we think, we just don’t always notice. If this is true, why don’t we notice? On one hand the answer is simple - we don’t notice because we’re not looking for them. But on the other hand, there is so much involved with becoming someone who does notice.
First of all, if you don’t believe in synchronicities (in other words you don’t believe in anything mysterious or unexplainable by traditional science), than you certainly won’t be able to notice them. I once heard a motivational speaker say that “miracles are only for the believer.” In other words, if you don’t believe in miracles, you won’t experience them. So there is something to having a bit of an appreciation for the mystery, the unknown. In a word, faith– a belief or a sense about there being more to this experience we’re having than just matter, time and space. A sense of an eternal, infinite, allness that we are intertwined with, interacting with even, if we choose. Only from this place of believing, can you begin to notice synchronicities.
However, there’s more - in the past I often noticed something that seemed to be a synchronicity, but because I had a belief about myself not being anything special, not being one worthy enough to get the attention of “God,” I dismissed what I noticed. “It’s nothing, that’s just a coincidence.” I just couldn’t believe that I was worthy enough to receive a miracle, even though I did believe in miracles. I would rather dismiss what I noticed than accept and receive it because I felt so undeserving. Eventually, as I realized that God isn’t some fatherly being out there rewarding those who do good and punishing those who do bad, I began to feel worthy and started practicing receiving. That’s when I began to notice synchronicities on an astounding level and it felt good to allow myself to receive. So it’s not enough to believe in miracles, we must also believe in ourselves as beings who are connected to that mystery, worthy and deserving of the joys that life brings, just as we are!
Finally, when we believe in the greater allness and believe that we are worthy just as we are and we begin to notice synchronicities, what’s left is to acknowledge what we notice. Write about it, speak about it, let that synchronicity work its magic throughout your system so that it can have the impact it’s meant to have on you and whomever else you share it with. And what’s amazing about synchronicity is the more you pay attention and notice, the more synchronicities you experience! I am at the point in my life where I experience so many daily synchronicities that I wonder, have they always been there but I didn’t notice, or are there actually more now? The answer to that question may remain a mystery, but what I do know is that living my life noticing synchronicities is so much more exciting, more full, more satisfying than ever before. I am now loving the unknown, the mystery, the part of life that I used to be so afraid of.
Now to tie this into boudoir– so many of our clients have told us amazing stories of the synchronicities that led them to us. The email that came alive to them as they read it, letting them know “the time is now” to take the brave step of booking a shoot; the sale that we ran right when they were on the fence about booking, nudging them to go for it; how they heard our studio mentioned by multiple people while they were thinking about doing a boudoir shoot; etc. They noticed, they allowed it to move them, they came in and did a boudoir shoot with us, and experienced the transformation that they needed at that time. The synchronicity worked its magic and we got to be a part of that!
What we don’t know about are the women who dismissed such things, who didn’t notice. They didn’t schedule a call with us, they didn’t book a shoot, they didn’t get to have the magic work in them. So I ask you - what is your relationship to synchronicity like? Are you noticing? Are you ignoring? Are you completely unaware?
If you’ve been noticing synchronicities and you feel that a boudoir shoot is what’s next for you, schedule your discovery call and we’d be happy to chat with you about what the next steps might be!
