What is a Wonder Woman? She is so much more than just a guest blogger. . . she is opening up the world to her story of challenges and regrowth. Megan sought out The Boudoir Studio to mark an important time in her life. . . the reinvention of herself. Her inspiring story takes us through the fateful morning where she woke up and decided to change every aspect of her life. It took great bravery for Megan to leave a miserable marriage, change jobs and focus on her children all while dropping some serious weight along the way.

March is Women’s History Month and a fantastic time to dive into the history of boudoir photography! Nude art isn’t anything new. People have been creating nude art with clay, marble, ink, and more for centuries. Even 28,000-year-old charcoal cave drawings were discovered in Australia! It seems like as long as humans have existed, so has our fascination for creating and preserving nude art. Here is a brief look into the history of boudoir photography.

Asif and Nicki are the husband/wife team and founders of The Boudoir Studio. Even though Valentine’s Day is over, love is still in the air. Andrea is one of our amazing photographers here at The Boudoir Studio! When she is not here at the studio she is busy raising her 3 kids with her husband Zach. This week, she shares with us the serendipitous way Zach came in and out of her life which ultimately ended with them being together. I guess it is true when they say, “If you love somebody, let them go . . . if they return, they were always yours”.

We had so much fun at our February Open House event last night! We were able to catch up with some returning clients and welcomed more people into our Roc Boudie Tribe! Our Black & Gold wall was featured for this month and our guests were specifically impressed with our new chandler that can be moved to different heights for amazing photos!

One of my most memorable boudoir photography moments is when a client of mine described me as a gay bestie to my wife during a PhotoShop (reveal) appointment. I don’t think anyone could’ve paid me any higher of a compliment than that. What’s amazing is that she. . .

Nearly 1 in 4 women have experienced severe physical violence from an intimate partner during their lifetime. Young women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence — almost triple the national average. Violence against women is not limited to socioeconomic status, race, age, or cultural background. 4 million women each year are subjected to abuse committed by their male partners, intimate partner violence is defined as “a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors used to establish power and control over another person whom an intimate relationship has been shared”.

Healing after domestic violence is a lifelong journey of recognizing destructive behavior in one's self and in others, letting go of wrong placed guilt, forgiveness and listening to one’s intuition. Some of our own clients here at The Boudoir Studio have booked a session as a way to reclaim their power that was taken away by their abusers. Asif shares his personal story of how boudoir can be used as a tool for healing:
