Gratitude: Negative Nancy to Positive Peggy

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, what better time to reflect on all that we should be grateful for? A few weeks ago our guest blogger, Jes Lyn, wrote about how much practicing gratitude can change one’s mindset. I have to be honest, I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind! If you need a refresher, check out our most recent wonder woman article “Messy to Mindset Master” to learn more about her story.

Upon further investigation, practicing gratitude benefits not only our mental health and emotional intelligence, but also our physical health. . .

Thank You!

We had so much fun at The Boudoir Studio’s Debuting Party last week! We were able to catch up with some returning clients and welcomed more women into our Roc Boudie Tribe! Our Onyx bedroom was definitely a favorite among our guests! After taking some fun photos in our photo booth, we all settled into the Boho room to look through albums and check out the slideshow. Our veteran boudoir clients talked about how and why they have done a boudoir session. It was so great to re-connect with our clients and get to know some new faces!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Nearly 1 in 4 women have experienced severe physical violence from an intimate partner during their lifetime. Young women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence — almost triple the national average. Violence against women is not limited to socioeconomic status, race, age, or cultural background. 4 million women each year are subjected to abuse committed by their male partners, intimate partner violence is defined as “a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors used to establish power and control over another person whom an intimate relationship has been shared”.

Healing after domestic violence is a lifelong journey of recognizing destructive behavior in one's self and in others, letting go of wrong placed guilt, forgiveness and listening to one’s intuition. Some of our own clients here at The Boudoir Studio have booked a session as a way to reclaim their power that was taken away by their abusers. Asif shares his personal story of how boudoir can be used as a tool for healing:

Baring it all for feminism and empowerment

Is it possible for a feminist to also participate in a boudoir session?

A close friend asked me this months ago as I had accepted my blogging position here at The Boudoir Studio. Honestly, it flustered me to give her an answer that would satisfy her curiosity and also hold me accountable for my own woman empowering values. If you were to ask Google, “does taking off your clothes empower a woman?” the short answer is no. However, in my own boudoir experiences, both assisting sessions and being in front of the camera, my answer would be yes. Perhaps it is an unpopular opinion. . . but I know that for some women, there is no better way to own your space, be proud of your body and to encapsulate that feeling forever than to be photographed nude.
